Explore royalty-free music in our Commercial Music Library

More than 600,000 tracks pre-cleared for royalty-free use in branded content and ads.

Commercial Music Library

It's hard to overstate the importance of sound on TikTok. One Kantar study found that TikTok was the only platform where ads with audio generated significant lifts in both purchase intent and brand favorability

We know that sourcing and licensing music for branded content can be a pain point for brands, so last May, we launched our royalty-free music library for commercial use. The Commercial Music Library (CML) is a growing collection of songs and sound effects from around the world, sourced from emerging artists and top-tier music houses across a variety of styles and genres. All songs in the CML are pre-cleared for commercial use, so businesses don't have to go through the lengthy process of obtaining licenses on their own.

To make it easier for brands to explore royalty-free music for use on TikTok, we recently launched a web version of the Commercial Music Library. Housed under the Creative Center, this allows advertisers to browse, listen and search with multi-dimensional filters including region, usable placements, themes, genre, mood, and duration. This new platform makes it easier than ever for businesses to find the right soundtrack for their next campaign or organic post. We've also added a new Playlists feature, which can be filtered by region to quickly find music collections with different popular themes.

We recently partnered with Anthem Production Group to add more than 350,000 new tracks to our Commercial Music Library, bringing the total available to over 600,000. An award-winning industry leader, Anthem Production Music and Entertainment is supported by a global team of music directors, composers, and creatives. Many of the songs available to our advertisers and users on TikTok come from one of Anthem's production companies, 5 Alarm Music. 5 Alarm strives to create a world in which viewers gravitate toward the music they hear in an advertisement, seek it out, and become fans of the artists who create it. They believe that production music, while created to enhance a piece of visual content, should have a life and authentic sensibility that lives beyond that content.

How it works

After opening Creative Center from the Inspiration menu, you'll see Commercial Music Library listed under Creative Tools in the navigation bar. Click to explore!

TikTok Creative Center

The Commercial Music Library can be explored in two ways: All music and Playlist. In the All music tab, you'll see Top Music, which shows the entire CML ranked by popularity. Within the library you can filter by region, app placements, themes, genre, mood, and duration.

👉  Please note: only 10,000 songs can be displayed at a time, but the entire library is available through the search and filter functions.

👉  You can click Commercial Music Library Guidelines to find out more about usable placements of music in the pop-up window.

In the Playlist tab, you can select your region from the dropdown menu to see playlists with different themes, moods and genres. Click a playlist to enter its detail page showing all music under this list. The Creative Center tool is our desktop version of the CML. You can access all of these songs and playlists in your TikTok app. Here's how:

  1. Make sure you are using a Business Account. If you're not, it's easy to change with just a few taps — just follow the steps here.

  2. Tap the + sign at the bottom of the app screen to go into shooting mode.

  3. From here, tap the 🎵 Add sound button at the top of your screen

  4. You'll land on the Commercial Sounds page, where all songs have commercial usage rights.

If you do not see the in-app Commercial Music Library, please ensure that you are using a Business Account. If you use our General Music Library through a personal account to promote your business, you are at risk of copyright infringement. Songs in our General Music Library are not pre-cleared for commercial content — defined as any content posted by a brand — and are not available for use by any brand or business.

Music and sound are TikTok's universal language; they play an integral role in the community's creativity, liveliness, and cultural impact. The Commercial Music Library can help you find songs to use in your organic and paid content that is pre-cleared for businesses and brands to use. This saves the lengthy and costly process of obtaining license on your own, so you can focus on making great content and running your business.

👉 We also recently announced the expansion of our TikTok Marketing Partners program to introduce certified Sound Partners to help brands build sound-on strategies for TikTok.
