TikTok For Business

Small BusinessBest Practices

The holiday season can be a make-or-break time to boost sales and find new customers. Want to get started with your ad campaigns but don’t know where to start? We’re here to help.

Create TikToks and have a record-breaking holiday sales season – all in just four steps.

Why TikTok?

Unique audience

TikTok users are buying products in crazy numbers, and many TikTok users are not on other social media platforms.

Low-production options

The good news is TikTok users don’t want to see your slickest, most expensive advertising campaign. In fact, lo-fi content performs amazingly well on TikTok!

Budget-friendly

You also don’t need to have a large budget or have thousands of followers to gain traction. Your business already has its own personality, its own sense of purpose, and its own stories about what makes you truly unique. All you need to do now is show up and tell those stories.

So, let's get started.

Step 1: Get started on TikTok (4 weeks out)

If you’re not on TikTok yet, it’s time to sign up! Follow these steps to get your account up and running.

Then, watch TikToks to figure out the type of content you like:

Whether you’ve been on TikTok for two years or two minutes, we recommend scrolling through TikTok for 15 minutes a day for inspiration and to stay up to date on the latest trends. Put your own creative spin on the videos you like ❤️.

Hashtags to explore for ideas:

Check out these hashtags and write down some ideas for your own business, like possible video formats, editing techniques, or themes that help make your brand stand out.

Step 2: Start planning your creative (3-4 weeks out)

TikTok users love content that is real, authentic, and tells a story. It can take time to put together, but it pays off!

Plan your stories:

What are your goals? Awareness, engagement, conversion? Keep these goals in mind as you brainstorm ideas for content.

Make a short list of story ideas. What makes your business stand out?

👉  Have an awesome storefront?
👉  What about a great story about the early days of your business?
👉   Do you have a product you just love to death and can’t stop gushing about?
👉   Who helps you run your business? Is it family? Friends? Furry friends?

TikTok has a wealth of resources in the 2021 Holiday Guideto help you plan an amazing story – from templates and story formats to content ideas.

Step 2: Start planning your creative (3-4 weeks out)

Now it’s time to film and start building your content. You’ll need a smartphone or camera to record a series of 5-10 short video clips that you want to edit together.

Sample Shot List:
👉  Talk about what made you get started
👉  Shoot a video of your business’s furry friend “hard at work”
👉  Film your storefront, brand packaging, or product
👉  Share a behind the scenes of your workspace
👉  Show off the dance you do when you make a sale or have a happy customer

Quick Video Tools:
👉  Video Template helps you create video ads with a few simple clicks. TikTok offers customizable templates for all kinds of audiences. You can select your favorite videos, pick from free music tracks, and add images, text, thumbnails, and more.
👉  Smart Video is a super quick, easy video-editing tool that uses artificial intelligence to help turn your best video and photo content into a beautifully edited video. You can tinker with different options for your opening and closing frames, add details about your product or promotion, and select the style of music you want to add.
👉  Quick Optimization takes one simple video and multiplies it into 12 pieces of content to help you fill out your holiday calendar. The tool automatically adds visual effects, opening frames, and music to convert one video into multiple pieces of creative content.

Once you have a handful of videos, start planning your holiday calendar and preparing for launch.

Set up your ad plans:
TikTok has a huge variety of different ad optionsfor every size budget to help you meet your goals and measure outcomes. No matter your entry point, you can make some magic with any size investment.

Step 4: Finalize Creative and Launch! (1 week out)

It’s finally time to review your game plan and prepare for liftoff.

As you review content, ask yourself a few key questions:
👉  Have I selected my key hashtags?
👉  Have I made it clear how to purchase the goods or services I’m offering?
👉  Are the links to my product active and easy to navigate?
👉  Do I have a good mix of content that might compel people to act?

Take time to schedule your posts, add your promotion options, and track your results.
