Replying to @Savannah Chandler how to run 5k in 30 minutes 💙🏃‍♀️🦋 this is the exact strategy I’d use to become a faster runner!⁣ ⁣ STEP 1: make sure you can run for 30 minutes continuously⁣ ⁣ STEP 2: add 1 speed workout to your weekly running schedule⁣ ⁣ STEP 3: structure your speed workouts⁣ ⁣ Your goal is to run a 6:00 min / km pace (9:40 min / mile) or faster on the “run” intervals, then jog at whatever speed you need to recover in between.⁣ ⁣ As long as you’re moving, it doesn’t matter how slow you’re jogging!⁣ ⁣ EXAMPLE PROGRESSION: (for a total of 30 minutes)⁣ 1 min run / 4 min walk (x6)⁣ 2 min run / 3 min walk (x6)⁣ 3 min run / 2 min walk (x6)⁣ 4 min run / 1 min walk (x6)⁣ 5 min run / 1 min walk (x5)⁣ 8 min run / 2 min walk (x3)⁣ 9 min run / 1 min walk (x3)⁣ 13 min run / 2 min walk (x2)⁣ 14 min run / 1 min walk (x2)⁣ ⁣ STEP 4: rinse and repeat⁣ Keep doing the same speed workout until you can complete all the intervals at goal pace with a jogging recovery.⁣ ⁣ I hope this helps and let me know if you’d like more breakdowns like these! 🤭👀⁣ ⁣ #running #runner #runningtips #runnergirl #runnerthings #5krun #beginnerrunner #runningmotivation #runninggirl #runninggoals #speedworkout #runningworkout #workoutroutine #fitness #fitnesstips
Saturday I ran my first 5k and finished with a an average pace of 18:57. I put in the work and my body showed up for me!!! I couldn’t be prouder. Tips to get your 5k under 30 minutes ⬇️ Of course this needs to be programmed depending on your starting point… There’s no point running 5K again and again trying to get it faster, you need to do other types of running to get your time down. For example if you are doing 3 runs a week, one run could be long, slow and steady - heart rate in zone 2 to build aerobic capacity One run incorporating intervals One run doing some hill sprints For a bonus, start strength training too.
