Let’s fix some form PT.3 🛠️⤵️ LAT PULLDOWN: ✅Pulling bar down to upper chest (concentric phase) ✅Squeezing shoulder blades down and together (scapular depression/retraction) ✅Controlling the bar slowly on the way back up (controlled eccentric phase) ❌Using too much momentum during the lowering (concentric) phase ❌Not controlling the bar on the way up (eccentric phase) ❌Excessive back extension TRICEP EXTENSION: ✅Shoulders back (slight shoulder retraction) ✅Elbows tucked in for greater triceps emphasis ✅Controlling the ropes back up (appropriate eccentric stimulus) ❌Shoulders rolling forward (scapular protraction) ❌Shoulders shrugging up (scapular rotation to compensate for weak triceps) ❌Potential decreased ROM LATERAL RAISE: ✅Pure focus on abduction ✅Bracing core & maintaining a static position ✅Controlling the concentric & eccentric phases ❌Using momentum through hip extension ❌Minimal concentric stimulus & not controlling the eccentric portion of the lift Disclaimer: This is a quick educational video of what incorrect & correct form may look like. If you’re struggling with knowing how to perform a lat pulldown correctly, here’s my advice: 1) Focus on getting your elbows to touch the side of your body and allow yourself to slightly lean when you pull down. 2) take a deep breathe in your diaphragm and either exhale when you pulldown or in breathe in between reps.
