GRID IRON GRILLING WEEK 3 The Giants face off the 49ers and bring us to the sunny Bay area, birthplace of Cioppino. During the 1850s in San Francisco, Italian fishermen would take the leftovers of the daily catch and combine them with a medley of wine, onions, herbs, and tomatoes to create something worth drooling over. We started by sautéing fennel, onions and garlic. Add in crushed tomatoes, white wine and seafood stock. Let that simmer for awhile before we added our fresh scallops, clams, mussels and shrimp - courtesy of our favorite Keyport Fishery.
