Olive oil is the best. But only when it’s organic. Here‘s why: Pesticides spread through the ground water and wind onto other farms. Not only does this mean organic farmers need to take extra precautions. It also seriously impacts biodiversity as I explained in yesterday’s video. As an anthropologist specialising in sustainability- this concerns me. But back to the olive oil: What olive oil should you buy? Your best bet is to choose organic. Yes, organic farmers also use a form of pesticides - but these must follow strict rules and amounts. Most organic treatments are either plant or mineral based and thus cannot be found as pesticides in the final product. Conventional pesticides however, can be traced until your plate! More on that in the next video! #organicfarming #oliveoil #olivefarm #extravirginoliveoil #pesticides #biodiversity #chooseorganic #anthropologistexplains #sustainablefarming #greekoliveoil
