Going LIVE is a powerful avenue for raising funds. New to using this feature? Here are some helpful tips to set yourself up for success.

Before

  • Do your prep. Build an outline for a 30-60 minute LIVE, and set up your backdrop with good lighting, acoustics, and camera framing. Consider a tech rehearsal beforehand to check Internet speeds and app version updates, so you get how LIVE works.
  • Promote your event. Tease your LIVE ahead of time using in-app features like Creating an Event or a LIVE sticker so people know to tune in.

During

  • Captivate your audience. Your LIVE will be served at random, so lock viewers in with engaging visuals and incentives (like special guests or exclusive content). Remember to regularly tell newcomers what they’re tuning into and respond to the chat to create an ongoing dialogue.
  • Personally thank donors. Ask for specific donation amounts throughout your LIVE, and shout out people by name as they contribute to let them know how they’ve helped progress you towards your goal.

After

  • Analyze your analytics. After you go LIVE, track viewership, followers gained and watch time for valuable learnings.

The American Heart Association (US) gave a masterclass in LIVE fundraising by working with @jt_laybourne – a recent open heart surgery recipient – to raise $250K in just 7 hours.
