Did you know that the ‘e’ at the end of these nine words is actually pronounced in English? Normally, we do not pronounce the ‘e’ at the end of a word, but the words I give you in today’s video are yet another exception to the many pronunciation rules that we SOMETIMES use when pronouncing words in English 😂😅 Make sure to pronounce the ‘e’ at the end of these words (several of which are taken from other languages): 1. acne = a common skin condition that causes pimples to form on the skin 2. apostrophe = a punctuation mark ( ‘ ) used in English to show possession or to make contractions of words 3. catastrophe = a big disaster 4. finale = the last part of a musical or theatre performance, or the last episode of one season of a show 5. recipe = a set of instructions that show you how to prepare and cook food 6. café = a small restaurant serving light meals and drinks 7. cliché = a phrase or idea that has been used so much to the point where it is no longer interesting or original 8. fiancé = a man who is engaged to be married (a fiancée is a woman engaged to be married) 9. résumé = a document briefly summarizing a person’s education, qualifications, and employment history Do you know any other words with an ‘e’ at the end that we have to pronounce?
