Chicken Katsu - or you can call these Chicken Tenders as well. This is my recipe from being in the catering business for 9 years. #chicken #katsu #easyrecipe Katsu is a Japanese dish of crispy fried cutlets coated with Panko bread crumbs. Popular varieties are chicken katsu (like this recipe) and tonkatsu (which is made with pork). Chicken Katsu Ingredients These are the ingredients you'll need to make this chicken katsu recipe at home: Chicken: 1 large chicken breast.
Seasonings: Salt, Pepper, Chili Powder, Paprika, Onion & Garlic Powder – 1 Tbsp Each, Togarashi (Optional) ½ Tsp Flour: ¾ Cup AP Flour Egg: 2 Eggs whisked – this helps the bread crumbs stick.
Panko: 1 Cup of Panko bread crumbs are responsible for katsu's signature crunch.
Oil: Opt for a neutral oil with a high smoke point, such as canola or vegetable oil. How to Make Chicken Katsu At HomeHere's a brief overview of what you can expect when you make homemade chicken katsu: 1. Slice chicken breast into thinner breast. 2. Place chicken breast in between two pieces of plastic wrap and then pound out until ¼ thickness. 3. In a bowl mix together all the seasoning and set aside 4. Next put each of the batter ingredients in a separate bowl and season each one (Flour, Egg, and Panko) with 1 Tbsp of the seasoning mix. 5. Coast each chicken breast in flour mix and make sure flour is coated very well. Then move into the egg and make sure egg mixture is coated very well. Lastly, coat with panko and this is where I like to press in the panko to the chicken, so it sticks and is covered well with the breadcrumbs. 6. Heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then it fries in 3 ½ to 4 minutes. Use a paper towel to absorb the oil once removed from oil and then season immediate with salt. 7. How to know if done. What you can do is look at the color especially on my video. It show a Golden Brown and that’s when you know its ready.
