Follow for more outdoor adventures in Europe! 🥾 📍Austrian Sky Ladder – Via Ferrata on the Donnerkogel in Gosau Randomly decided to do this via ferrata even though IT WAS OUR FIRST EVER! Nothing like going 0 to 100! Via ferratas are broken down into classes A the easiest through E the hardest. This one had many D sections 😅 For someone afraid of heights (Amanda) this was a huge accomplishment. 🥳 Things to know: 💰It's free to do, but you need to bring your equipment or rent for about $25 in a town nearby 🚠Take the Gosaukamm Cable car first thing (8:15am) to the Gablonzer Hut to avoid most people, or even better stay at the hut overnight and do the climb before the first cable car arrives! 🌧️Don't do this if there is rain in the forecast its dangerous! And if it’s a nice day on a weekend make sure to bring extra water, there will be lots of people and it will take longer ⚙️Wear hiking boots, helmets, gloves (this is a must don't skip it), harness and the via ferrata clip system 🧗♀️In our opinion the sky ladder wasn't that hard (only mentally for Amanda), the portion after is some tough rock climbing to get to the top of Grosser Donnerkogel at 2055m 🥾It's a one way you can't turn back, but at the sky ladder you can find an alternative way down the other side of the mountain ⏰Takes about 3 hours to complete unless there are a lot of people, for us it took 7 because the day was so nice #viaferratainaustria #skyladder #grosserdonnerkogel #alps #hikinginaustria #outdooradventures #optoutdoors #adventurecouple #austria #europeanalphikes #hikinginspo #inspireoutdoors Austria's Stairway to Heaven
