A pin hem is basically a beginners rolled hem because you dont have to mess around with different feet or have a fancy machine 🥰. It’s also the easiest way to make your sewing look professional and couture 💅🏼. This hem is perfect for lightweight, sheer or silky fabrics because it gets folded twice, and looks beautiful inside and out. i know sewing knits can be intimidating but once you get your settings that you like down it can be super fun! i always recommend investing in a serger if you primarily want to sew knits but if you just have a sewing machine it will work as well! here’s my settings: stitch: zigzag length: 2.5 width: 3 needle position: to the left (you get more fabric underneath your whole presser foot) make sure to use a ballpoint or jersey needle - this needle allows the for it to go in between the fibers of your fabric tip: iron your project after sewing to have it lay nicely happy sewing friends! #myakayemade #sewing #sewingtips #sewingkit #sewingproject #sewingmachine #sewinglove #diyfashion #singerheavyduty #sewingtools #sewingtiktok #sewingforyoupage

Ladder stitch, invisible stitch, whatever you call her, in my opinion is the easiest and cleanest stitch you can do to finish off a garment if you are required to hand sew a section. For me, I line a lot of my garments so this is the perfect way to close off the lining. It’s a simple stitch once you get the hang of it, just remember to go slow and be patient, you’ve got this! 😌 By far the most important step is to start by ironing your garment, if you want you can press the seams open too. Start by knotting your thread and bringing your needle towards you from the back. Now stitch across and up, then to the opposite side, parallel to your precious stitch and up again and through to you, then back to the other side. When the seam is open it should look like a ladder! Keep repeating this till you’ve closed your seam and pull the thread for a satisfying finish. Remember to knot your thread again once you’ve finished and that’s it!
