After 8 years with a Ricoh GR, I’ve come to believe... Out of habit and experience that there’s an easy way to get great photos out of this little camera. Since I mostly take photos by bike, I shoot in Aperature Priority (Av) to locked in at f2.8 and maximize the amount of light coming into the camera while not having to worry about manually setting shutter speed. Ideally, your shutter is above 1/125 to avoid blur (unless you want it 🤓). Since the GR II tends to look really grainy above ISO 800, I set it manually as light conditions. RAW files on this camera tend to be easiest to edit when exposed a little dark, so I typically run an exposure compensation at least -0.7 and sometimes down to -1.7. Images out of the camera should look a little dark. You’ll be surprised how well they lighten up and the deeper colors your acheive when you edit. 🙌🏻 And that’s my quick list of basic settings! If you’re not already happy with the photos, these should help get you on the right track!
