GRADING 101 - 10 Cards I AM NOT sending to PSA, and here’s why for each. Centering is ALWAYS the first thing I start with because everything else on a card can be perfect, but if it doesn’t meet the @psacard grading standard of 60/40 or better, you will have very little chance at a Gem Mint 10. And at that point, you need to start considering whether or not it’s even worth sending in if your best chance at a high grade is a PSA 9. Back in the day, PSA 9s held a premium, today’s a different story. So make sure you do your comps before submitting to determine whether it’s smarter to just sell raw or pay to submit. At the moment, in my opinion, PSA is the only company to send your modern cards too, as there is a premium for them on the second market. I have no affiliation with them, it’s just the truth. Believe it not, I actually sued them 20 years ago. 👀 But a story for another day. I would LOVE to see @sgcgrading make a run at them eventually as I like them a lot as a company, along with their transparency and leadership. @taggrading is interesting up and comer as well, but trying to get an old industry into new tech will probably take them 5-6 years to catch on. But it will be fun watching them do it, since they are definitely capable.
