Foraging mulberries on the street 🌳 It is 100% legal to harvest fruit from trees that hang over public property (in this case the sidewalk) and my neighbor @itsanadamadventure found a mulberry tree a few streets away that was BURSTING with fruit 🤤 As you can see, mulberries make a HUGE mess because the fruit splatters the sidewalk and ferments in the heat, but regular urban foraging could help. It’s literally free food that would otherwise go to waste, so we grabbed a sheet, a rake and a few containers and set to work At first we raked the lower branches which was effective, but the tree was so big that much of the fruit was in the canopy we couldn’t reach. To solve this problem, we ended up climbing the tree and shaking the branches from above 😬 not recommended from a “legal” standpoint but highly effective 😂 We filled all of our containers and brought home our sweet snack. They’re overwhelmingly sweet on their own (especially the dark purple ones) but they make great jam 😋 Have you harvested mulberries before? . . . . . . . . . . . #vegan #mulberry #mulberrytree #foraging
