If you’re going to Juneau and you want to visit Mendenhall Glacier on your own, you need to know these things. DO NOT take Uber or Lyft to the glacier. They technically aren’t allowed to drop you off or pick you up at the parking lot. Get a taxi, arrange transportation ahead of time, or join a bus transfer from the pier. You will need to pay an entrance fee or show your National Parks Annual pass. You can also buy a National Park Annual Pass at the visitor center. Spend some time exploring, learning why glaciers are blue, and watch a cool video about Mendenhall glacier. There’s a semi-hidden elevator if you walk past the steps. You can explore the National Forest and the coolest spot we found was Nugget Falls trail. You can get pretty close to the waterfall, although it’s too cold for swimming. You can also do this tour with a combination whale watch and Mendenhall glacier stop. It takes about half an hour to get here from downtown Juneau. We probably spent about two hours here visiting. #Juneau #MendenhallGlacier #NuggetFalls #AlaskaTips
