My epic sunrise mission on the Isle of Skye 🤯 Said to be the biggest and most dramatic series of landslides in Britain, the Trotternish Ridge stretches on for 19 miles across the Isle of Skye. The Old Man of Storr once belonged to its cliff face before breaking free to stand in this unique orientation of jagged pinnacles. AND I NEEDED TO SEE HIM AT SUNRISE. And so, while my husband slept in, I decided to try my hand at driving on the opposite side of the road and made my way to the trailhead just as first light touched the sky. I was…nervous? For some reason? I had done many sunrise hikes and solo hikes but this seemed different. Like a true adventure. Just me in this foreign place, far from home, in a strange landscape. Just me and the Storr. One thing this video doesn’t show is just how brief that golden glow lasted. It was maybe 10 or 15 minutes before the sun rose up into the clouds that were settling in for the day. Had I woken up just a little later, I would’ve missed it.
