Replying to @Krysta 🏳️🌈🎌 This is basically how i got started dog walking! Originally I started Tail and Snoot just on the side to get me outside and give me some pocket money between jobs, but i fell totally in love with it and now it’s my full time job, so here’s what i’d recommend doing to start your own dog walking business! Make a Facebook page and Instagram page, i have found nearly all of my clients through Facebook and Instagram. Find other dog walkers and even dog accounts that are local to you. I’ve had dogs i follow reach out to me for a walker! This is why it’s also so important to join all your local Facebook groups! Neighbourhood watch and advertising groups are brilliant! I’ve even found dog owner groups for the area i cover! Post ads in these as much as you can (or feel comfortable doing). The most important legal requirement you need to adhere to when dog walking is having insurance. Have a look around for this and ask other walkers’ opinions. This doesn’t cost much, mines around £7/month. The best tip i can give you is to ask other dog walkers if they have any clients they can’t take on. We get loads of walking enquiries but, as we’re pretty much fully booked for walks now, are always looking for other walkers to take these clients on. A lot of clients have said they’ve come to me because i look professional, so i’d definitely say invest some time in making a logo, it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to get the point across and make you stand out. This obviously isn’t a necessity but i personally think you’ll look more professional and appealing (especially first starting off). Don’t forget that dog walking is very flexible, so to get starting you can always offer walks around your current job, and start with solos to build up your experience and relationship with dogs. I hope this helped!!
