Here’s what you can do in Tokyo. A Day Trip to Hakone. Just under 1.5hours, you’ll get to this beautiful town where you get on 5 different transportation to explore the place! And yes! This is where the famous Hakone Shrine’s Tori gate ⛩️by Lake Ashi is located at! . . Itinerary📍(Set off at 9am!) (1) Shinjuku Station >> Odakyu Line (¥1200 ticket) (2) Drop off at Hakone Yumoto Station>> Hop on another tram in the same station to Gora station for Cable car ride (steep tram). While In between stops you can get off to sightsee art museum, parks, onsen… (3) Get off at Owakudani for the Hakone Ropeway to the Volcano mountain top. Look out for Mount Fuji! (4) You will end the Ropeway at Togendai station, and now it’s time to go on the Sightseeing Cruise (last crusie at 4.15pm). It takes 20mins across Lake Ashi and you will arrive at Hakonemachi-ko terminal. >> Keep left and walk 15-20mins to Hakone Shrine! Hakone is the perfect place to see the Mount Fuji 🗻 Located only 1h30 from Tokyo, I recommand to go there for 2 days because there is many things to see and to do, but you can also do it as a day trip from Tokyo. If you stay there 2 days you can buy the "Hakone freepass" (Odakyu line) with which you will have access to almost all means of transport in Hakone, including the train to get there from Shinjuku station. The pass costs 6100¥. I slept in the Hotel Musashiya and I recommend it because you have access to a superb onsen on the 5th floor with a view of the lake, the torii and Mount Fuji, and you also have a delicious traditional japanese breakfast. The location is perfect too!
