🍁Fall is knocking and in the wise words of Taylor Swift this means “…mornings are all chilly and you can see your breath, and draw little pictures on foggy windows and plaid stuff and ankle boots…” and it also most definitely means the leaves are changing. Every year Smoky Mountains Tourism puts out their prediction for when the leaves will change colors all across the country to help you being able to enjoy them at the their peak. Each year we do our best to be in the right place at the right time to get to enjoy them as fully as possible! Here are our tips to help you make the most of the fall’s changing colors, where ever you plan to see them! 🍁 Tip #1: Plan early. While peak time varies year over year, if you’re hoping to visit a popular destination you may have to book in advance and hope you’re close. If you’re hoping to stay close to home, save these dates now and clear your calendar. Do some research about the best places to enjoy the leaves in your area. We don’t all have to make the pilgrimage to Vermont to enjoy the leaves. 🍁 Tip #2: Start early, expect crowds, & be patient. If at all possible try to plan for visiting during the week. It’s generally less crowded 🍁 Tip #3: Ensure you are not trespassing! This might seem silly but every year people converge on private land for the perfect Instagram pic and don’t realize the damage they may be doing to people’s properties! There is so much public land to view from. 🍁 Tip #4: If you are traveling to enjoy the leaves, support local small business and shops. For many, this is a really important time of year for their business and supporting them means they will be there for you on your next visit. 🍁 Tip #5: If accessibility is of concern, there are some amazing driving locations across the US for viewing (Million Dollars Highway in CO or the Blue Ridge Parkway along the East Coast for example). You don’t even have to get out of your car. Be sure to save for planning your upcoming fall trips and let us know in the comment section where you're planning to watch the leaves change? Happy peeping friends!
