Elderflower Ep. 01 #foraging #elderflower #foodtiktok
Elderflower cordial is an iconic British summer drink. The flowers can be found adorning hedgerows from late spring into early summer. Beautiful sprays of tiny cream coloured flowers that smell like vanilla, pear and grape Muscat make it the perfect flower for steeping. The addition of sugar makes for a syrup that is fresh and fragrant. The best time to collect the flowers is in June, on a warm, dry, sunny morning. This recipe is the refinement of many summers making elderflower cordial and perfecting it, at least in my opinion. It is far superior to the offerings found in the super markets and is so simple to make. I urge you to try it for yourself. 20-25 elderflower heads 3 litres of water 12g of citric acid 1kg of sugar 2 unwaxed lemons, juice and peel Full recipe can be found on the website. Will you be making elderflower cordial this year? Do you have other plans such as fritters or boiled sweets? Let me know in the comments. Obsessed with elderflower season & how it forces me to slow down! This easy cordial recipe is delicious ✨ Tutorial below 👇 Summer in a Bottle: Easy Elderflower Cordial Recipe! 🇬🇧 This recipe is super simple and uses just a few ingredients! In the video, I show you each step, but here's a quick guide: Ingredients: * 2 kg Granulated Sugar * 2 Litres Water * 2 Lemons, Sliced * Elderflower Heads (petals only, no stalks) Instructions: 1. Gently heat the sugar and water in a large pan until the sugar dissolves completely. Don't boil it, just simmer until it becomes a syrup. 2. Add the sliced lemons and elderflower heads to the syrup. 3. Cover the pan and leave it to steep for at least 24 hours, ideally overnight. 4. Once steeped, strain the cordial into clean, sterilised jars. 5. Store in the fridge and enjoy within a few weeks. Top Tip: Elderflower can be quite delicate, so be sure to remove the stalks from the flowers before adding them to your cordial. The stalks can be a bit bitter & nasty on the tummy . Note: Always check before foraging that you have the right plant or have permission, we don’t want anyone getting poisoned #elderflowercordial #seasonalrecipes #selfcaretips #mindfulness #slowliving #summervibes #getcreative #homemade #britishsummer.

Flädersaft | Elderflower Cordial Nothing says it’s almost midsommar quite like elderflower finally being in bloom. After living in Sweden for 8 years elderflower cordial is now one of my favorite summer flavors! I was very relaxed (read: a little sloppy) making the cordial this year and didn’t even check my recipe before making. I used 10 blossoms, 2 whole lemons, 1kg of sugar and 1 L of water. I definitely could have had more elderflower, maybe 15-20 blossoms but it’s still good anyway 🌸 #elderflower #flädersaft
💛 Homemade Elderflower Cordial💛 This is so yummy. The recipe I used was as follows... 25 Elderflower Heads (remove as much stalk as possible and wash) 2 kilo granulated sugar (slowly dissolve in the water) 1.5ltr Water 2 lemons peeled and sliced 85g Citric Acid (add more if you like it sharp) Ensure you leave for 24hrs to infuse. Sterilise your bottles or jars by washing in soapy boiling water, rinse and then leave for 10mins in a warm oven to dry. Done!!! Enjoy! 💛 This will keep in the fridge for up to 6 weeks! (P.S, this was my first time doing a voiceover, so be kind..ha) . . . . . #elderflower #elderflowercordial #homemadeelderflowercordial #homemade
Don’t buy elderflower cordial, not only is it ridiculously expensive but its SO easy to make at home and freezes very well to have during off season! This is such a nostalgic drink for me, for those who don’t know (Americans?) a cordial is a sweet, concentrated liquid that you mix with water or soda to make a lovely drink. Elderflower is floral and delicious and SO worth making!! The citric acid is essential as it gives it the shelf life and also makes it taste a little bit better, just make sure its food grade. This is the one that I buy along with all my other cordial making essentials https://amzn.to/3R4EbQ7 *aff link Ingredients: 30-40 elderflower heads 60g citric acid 800g sugar 2 litres water 1 orange 1 lemon Method: Gently wash your elderflowers to remove any bugs. Fill your pot with water, stir in the sugar and then bring that to a boil. Once boiling, remove from the heat and stir in the citric acid, lemon and orange slices and the elderflowers. Leave this with the lid on to steep over night (8-12 hours). Using a tight sieve, I use muslin cloth and a sieve to be sure, drain the cordial into bottles. I store any bottle’s I’m not using in the fridge (just make sure they aren’t completely full so when they freeze the bottle doesn’t burst). These make such a lovely gift and you can add flavours like mint or rhubarb as well to switch it up! #elderflowercordial #sparklingelderflower #elderflowercordialrecipe #foodfyp #recipefyp

Remember that dandelion honey (oops syrup) we made? Well, we're back in the kitchen with another free summer treat: elderflower cordial! Here's how we made our elderflower cordial: * 1kg Sugar * 1 Litre Water * 1 Lemon * 10 Elderflower Heads (ditch the stalks!) Do: 1. Heat sugar & water gently until sugar dissolves (no boiling!). 2. While that's happening, thinly slice your lemon. 3. Pop the lemon slices & elderflower heads (minus stalks) in the pan once sugar's sorted. 4. Cover & leave to steep for 24 hours (room temp is fine!). 5. Strain through a cheesecloth or tea strainer into a clean jug. 6. Enjoy diluted with water, lemonade, or even in cocktails! Keeps for weeks in the fridge, or freeze it for longer. Top Tip: Bin the elderflower stalks, they're a bit bitter! And can make your tummy bad #elderflowercordial #summervibes #kitchentime #familycrafts #sonsgf

Here’s how to identify elderflower for cordial and champagne so you don’t end up making something out of cow parsley or something else which looks very similar. First up - Elderflower leaves have serated edges and are commonly found in clusters of 5 or 7. Although young stems are green Elderflower grows from a tree or a bush so you should be able to see a brown branches. Elderflowers have a creamy pale yellow colour, you don’t want to pick them when they’re brown. pick elderflower from late may to mid June when the buds are freshly open on a hot day. A final point is the smell. To me they smell like summer, to others it smells like pee. #elderflower #elderflowercordial #gardeningtiktok #gardening #gardentok
