This coffee tasting from Blue Bottle Studio was… insane. Blue Bottle Studio just opened their first 10-course coffee tasting outside of Japan, and it is a coffee lover’s dream. In my opinion, a coffee tasting like this is incredibly rare and almost impossible to come by outside the limited craft experiences possibly found in Japan. If I could sum up the experience in a word it would be, “zen.” The entire experience felt like a coffee meditation. The ambiance was soft and intimate with smooth jazz playing on a record player, and each coffee was prepared with an immense attention to detail. One coffee was paired perfectly with a delicate dessert, and another even had its own music pairing. In the end, it was truly a one of a kind experience that opened my eyes to the wide spectrum of flavor you can taste in coffee, so I was grateful to be able to experience it given its limited availability. I got the sense that this was a bit of passion project for the Blue Bottle founder. Although there aren’t plans for a permanent installation, he hopes to share this unique tasting experience with as many people as possible with future pop-ups. DON’T WALK. RUN! You have to try Blue Bottle’s black cardamom latte 🤩❄️☕️ It’s a seasonal drink so it’s only around for a limited time! I wanted to try it last year, but I didn’t get the chance, so I finally tried it recently and I loved it! It is SOOO good, even better than I expected. I love cardamom esp in the fall time! I love cooking with it and adding it to lattes at home and black cardamom is such a nostalgic smell for me because it reminds me of my mom’s cooking growing up in an Ethiopian household. It’s such a staple spice in Ethiopian cuisine, especially used in stews and spiced clarified butter 🥘✨ The black cardamom (or Korerima in Amharic) in this drink is actually sourced directly from Ethiopia through one of Blue Bottle’s partners, Oakland based @brundospices 😍🤎 This latte has the perfect balance of flavors, not too sweet which I love and of course bc I don’t do caffeine I get it with the best decaf EVER, Blue Bottle’s night light decaf which I’ve talked about on my stories! Their night light decaf is not only the most DELICIOUS decaf ever- like legit could fool someone because it tastes just as bold and rich 🤌🏾- BUT its also organic and decaffeinated using the chemical-free Swiss Water Process💧I meannn I couldn’t have dreamt up something better!
