Instagram vs Reality - Arashiyama Bamboo Forest Kyoto has been struggling with over tourism and after being here on 4 occasions over the last few years, it’s getting increasingly worse year on year. Back in 2019 at the exact time I got there at around 5:50am, there was at most 4 photographers during cherry blossom season. Today you see 4 layers deep of photographers. Then by 6:30 crowds started streaming in and by 7am it’s cooked and you’re best just letting photoshop do the rest of the editing for you.
