🚨PLEASE READ🚨 This is one of the first busking videos of mine that gained some traction online. I owe a lot to this video, the person who posted it and the location it was shot at. It went pretty viral in China and so many people connected with me. What if I told you that I’m not actually legally allowed to busk there anymore? Westminster Council made it illegal via a bogus and immoral licensing scheme a year ago. This license scheme confines buskers into playing only two specific spots around the city. This is unsustainable due to the sheer amount of performers that everyday come to show their talent in central London. Ever since coming back to busking, me and my peers have been vehemently fighting and protesting this license because it covertly aims to destroy our community and the impact we have on the culture of the city. Few months ago, the majority of us decided not to renew the license as a sign of protest and to show our disapproval to Westminster Council. Now one of us, Ben Dixon , is being taken to court and faces a criminal record and £1000 fine for the horrible crime of… singing and playing guitar in the streets. This is utterly ridiculous and doesn’t reflect at all the freedom of artistic expression that draw me to this city years ago.
