Replying to @Robbie Wood #nogloves Being stung in the face or eye can be very dangerous so even though the risk of this happening is low he will always wear a head veil to ensure it can’t happen. Being stung by a bee has been suggested to have health benefits for the immune system so an occasional hand or arm sting while rare, is fine for Gareth. We do not reccomend that beekeepers stop wearing gloves - it is a personal choice.#swarm #nogloves #beekeeper #honeybees #beekeeperlife #manchesterbees #beekeeping #swarmremoval #beekeepinguk
Part 3 - the honeybees being removedWhen this honeybee swarm landed on a traffic light 🚦 it was a tricky shape to remove them from.Gareth uses a card to scrape the bees 🐝 into a bucket 🪣 Honeybees are the only bees that swarm. They produce a new queen and half the bees leave the colony with the old queen. This is their way of reproducing and is perfectly a natural. The swarm often only travels 50 to 100m away from the original colony and lands while it investigates new locations. The original colony is likely to be on top of one of the buildings in central Manchester.#honeybees #swarm #bee swarm # beekeeping uk #beekeepers life #manchester bee #manchester swarm #beekeeper #beekeeping #beehive #h oneybee # manchester honeycompany
