Towering sashimi rice bowls in Japan 🇯🇵 I came across this restaurant completely by accident - whilst I 59th in queue waiting for the famous Sapporo soup curry (at Soup Curry Garaku in Susukino), I was ENCHANTED by the dazzling fruit display from the touristy food hall Tanuki Comichi next door. Japanese strawberries, honeydew melons and giant oranges will do that to you…
Beside it sat Shihachi, a seafood market run by fishmongers with an eat in restaurant. The seating wasn’t immediately obvious but after spotting a bowl piled high with fatty tuna and a raw egg yolk… as well as a seafood donburi with TEN types of their daily picks, I was sold.
I ordered both, sat down ready to eat and had my holding screen for the queue next door loaded up on my phone. I somehow managed the soup curry afterwards, this meal AND one just before that - but more on that in the future “everything I ate in Japan” reel in a few days 😗😌

- Kaisendon, a sashimi rice bowl/seafood donburi with 10 types of fresh Hokkaido seafood!
- Negitorodon - fatty tuna with egg yolk and spring onion on a bed of rice
- Fishmonger’s miso soup - miso with thick chunks of fish, with the odd bone in
- Matcha is free!

I already know I’ll be dreaming about this when I’m inevitably back in London. Google reviews says it’s touristy - which I am - and I loved it but always on the lookout for more recommendations! Happy accidents when it comes to new food finds are my favourite kinds.
