Let's use primary colors, which are red blue & yellow
I am using perylene red, cobalt, blue, and Hansa yellow for our primary colors
when mixed together, they provide us with secondary colors.
These colors are violet- or purple, green, and orange.
The problem is that mixing pigments together, inevitably lowers chroma. It's always depleting!
Can't prevent it!
Yes, you can use any mixtures without hesitation, as they are perfectly wonderful mixtures, and it's important to mix colors and not always use paint right out of the tube!
Mixing is how we get to want we are seeking, color wise... so mix your maintain:)
For comparison, let's see how secondary colors out of the tube can retain chroma, even when being mixed with titanium white.
The secondary colors out of the tube are manganese, violet, permanent, green, and cadmium orange
1 find these mixtures of secondary colors, out of the tube to be fascinating, see how much chroma is there when compared to the primary mixtures?
Mixing colors together is where it's at, but using pigments that are high chroma give you better chances for the paint to achieve what you're after #studioart #oilpaint #colormashup #mixingpalette #colormixing #paintanyway #artistinstudio #mixedpaint #oilcolors #artistatwork #artistoftiktok #oilpainting #paletteknife #surprisecolors
