In my opinion the most beautiful shop in the world, John Lobb, in St James’, where Prince Charles (now king) and Prince Philip have bestowed Royal warrants. In business since 1849, not to be confused with the ready to wear Lobbs owned by LVMH. The last time I posted about this shop, I had so many comments from people who didn’t understand the difference between the shoes from this branch of John Lobb, which are the original handmade versions, and the ones produced by Hermès since 1976, which is the Ready to Wear version - still very expensive, but not as expensive as these which start at about £6000 a pair. This is in St James’ Street and they are very welcoming - just walk in and you can talk to them about how they make the shoes if they have time.
