An elder’s experience. A moment of their time. These are all precious gifts that should be appreciated and respected. The farmers, ranchers, and elders in my life were plentiful. I was born into a lifestyle where I encountered someone knew everyday that taught me something of value. Maybe it was the dairy farmer I overheard talking to my dad while I loaded up his wagon full of hay, or maybe it was my grandfathers friend that taught me the old ways growing huge tomatoes during the Great Depression because his grandchildren lived out of state and he found peace in passing down his methods to keep them alive. I talked a lot as a child but wouldn’t dare make a peep until I got a smirk or a smile when a elder was taking the time to teach me something. That’s how I was raised. Their wisdom and guidance made me who I am today and grow in so many ways. Gratitude, respect, and positivity are the best ways to show appreciation for the help they provide. Some of you simply talk to much when you could be listening. That’s all. #gratitude #respect #farmers #learning #gardening #planting #listen #farm #farmlife
