Year 9 out of 100: It was an honor to attend the future library ceremony surrounded by deeply passionate people there to celebrate a future we long for. Likely none of us there will ever read a word of these books. But the books, the project is just a symbol of a future out of reach for us that is still worth striving to make better, healthier, & more beautiful for future generations. This year’s authors Ocean Vuong (2020 author) and Judith Schalansky (2023) spoke beautifully about what working on this meant to them. The day was full of music, poetry, blessings, sounds of nature, laughter of kids (who may just get to read these books), and the rustling spruce trees that still have a long way to go.
