It’s the final countdown to 2023, wishing everyone a very happy New Year! 2022 has been a challenging year for many reasons, but it’s also been great. I’ve been busy working on my book and figuring out a new equilibrium in my life. I find myself more fascinated by fungi than ever. The more I learned the deep I fall into my obsession with all things fungal. Between researching stuff for my podcast and the book, I have accrued so much new knowledge, but as also painfully aware of how little I know in the overall scope of things. It is exciting every day to wake up and delve deeper into topics I find compelling.

One of the things that got my really excited this year was realizing how emerging technologies could help us better understand mushrooms. DNA sequencing has revolutionized the way we understand the genetic relationships between different types of mushrooms. UV flash lights are revealing hidden aspects of mushrooms. Timelapses help to visualize the growth of mushrooms in a relatable anthropromorphic way. 3D rendering completely changes how you can capture one particular mushroom and homage to its glory (many thanks to @jperl - check out his page for more amazing 3D art and video).
