Who else low key hates being surprised by handmade or unpackaged “#glutenfree ” foods? 😅😫🙋♀️ Like I’m grateful for the kind intention (and will often accept the gift and just give it to my bf 😂) BUT…
❌ Someone with celiac disease can get sick from eating food that just comes in contact with gluten. So just because someone used a gluten free baking mix doesn’t mean the end result is truly gluten free or celiac safe. 😅
❌ Someone with celiac may have additional food intolerances or sensitivities.
❌ Just like people who eat gluten don’t love every gluten food, we don’t everything just cuz it’s gluten free. So thanks…but really, no thanks. 🤣🫠
So if you’re the friend or family member of someone with celiac, please believe when we say we DON’T need any special food and will just bring our own / eat before or after. And if you really want to surprise us, give us a grocery store or Amazon gift card so we can stock up on our fave treats, or a packaged gluten free item we’ve recently said we loved. 🥰
👉 And to my celiac friends…remember you can ALWAYS turn down food — even if someone promises it’s safe or made it “just for you.”

Who else has put #glutenfreefood back on the shelf just cuz of the price? 😅🙋♀️ Food costs ARE high for everyone right now…but food insecurity in the #glutenfree community due to the crazy price of #celiacsafe foods is something I think ALWAYS needs more coverage. 🙏 Cuz at the end of the day, a #glutenfreediet is a #celiac ’s only medicine…and very few of us are able to take advantage of tax deductions for #glutenfreefoods (#glutenfree tax deduction guide further back on my profile!). 🤷♀️
