Here are some important tips to properly store your car for an extended period of time so she starts right up when you’re done storing her! Let’s hear any tips you have which I didn’t cover! Comment them below!
1. Stabilize the fuel
This is important to prevent ethanol and water from causing corrosion and to prevent the fuel from breaking down and gumming up your fuel injectors.
2. Moisture remover
Please please please use a moisture absorber to absorb humidity inside of the car. My Del Sol had some moisture in the carpets and I didn’t notice and it caused the whole car to be a moldy mess… don’t make my mistake!!!
3. Fully charge battery
A low or dead battery that sits for long periods of time will build up sulfur on the lead inside of the battery and permanent shorten it’s lifespan. Always charge the battery completely and disconnect the negative terminal.
4. Fully inflate tires
Low tires that sit can create flat spots which can cause severe vibrations at speed. Pump up your tires to the recommended psi or even a couple psi over just for storage.
5. Change oil
Oil gets acidic over time/use and you don’t want that acidic oil to sit in the engine and eat away at seals so get some fresh oil in your engine.
6. Clean car Dirt, debris, bird droppings, etc all can cause damage to your paint over time so clean your car before storage!
