I wasn’t handed the path of an artist. Let alone any sort of success. I had to create it myself when I so desperately wanted someone to save me. The constant is recognizing the parts of myself that are scary and dark but knowing that if I lean into hope, change must happen for the better. While everything was stripped from me, no car, no job, $4 to my name, bawling my eyes out in my kitchen terrified that I might be homeless, I held on. And I’m SO thankful that I did.
