Tuesday night, i pulled her up from the pasture. she was 3 legged lame and had this nail in her fetlock. vet came out and determined the nail went into the joint. joints can breed nasty infections if not handled properly. she is staying at the clinic for routine antibiotic injections to the area. It's an aggressive way to catch the infection from spreading early on. once she comes home, she will have to be on stall rest for about 3-4 weeks.
i have asked the vet to do what she feels in her professional opinion is the route to go. no matter the cost. these injuries and how they're treated can mean the difference between a sound horse who comes out on top or one with issues in that fetlock, deeming it unsound.
im praying for a full recovery. and im doing the most to make sure she comes out of this on top.
