I just left work to go get some cookies for my coworkers 😭 I turned down a service road on my way back and thankfully spotted these two scurrying across the road. It appears they were dumped there with only that box for “shelter.” It was in the 30s-40s today with a chilly wind. They were sticky and gross. They’re emaciated and dehydrated. But they’re safe now. They’ve been bathed, fed, given dewormer, and 5 way shots. They could’ve been prevented if someone had only had their female dog fixed. Abandoned by her family, just left locked in a backyard like a piece of lawn furniture that didn’t make it on the truck.
A dog is a commitment for LIFE, not to be confused with a possession you can just leave behind.
I responded to a call of an abandoned dog that had been left in a back yard. I walked in that back yard and instead of investigating like usual, securing my approach… my heart sunk. The most confused, scared and yet loving face was just sitting there looking at me. No food, no water, no protection. Her face already clearly told the story that should have never been told, so I got right to action making sure we put this chapter behind her.
She took a while to leave the backyard because it for sure was all she ever knew. Took longer to get into my house because it was all brand new as well.
Fast forward, ended up the landlord that said she was used for breeding and the family that left her took her puppies, was wrong… she was in fact STILL pregnant.
Got right to it and made her feel like a queen, did a maternity shoot and pampered her with the good life so she knew she was the main focus getting ready for her puppies to come. No more stress! She needed to know she had every ounce of support going into this and would NEVER be abandoned again 💪🏻💛

Rescue work can be overwhelming 😔 This is just one side of one kennel room in our shelter. These sweet dogs shouldn’t be stuck inside kennels all day, they should be out enjoying summer with a loving family! 🙏 We do the best we can with the resources we have, but right now we have almost 70 dogs in our care 💔 We need your help getting them out 🙏 If you can’t adopt, please consider bringing one of our dogs home for a weekend sleepover! Just a few days away from the noise and stress of the shelter can work wonders on a pet. Or perhaps become one of our volunteer dog walkers and help us ensure that every single one of our dogs gets out for some fresh air every day! ❤️
