This year I plan to dial up creativity and curiosity. Here’s a sneak peak of the experimental prototype for the humpback whale project. I even managed to rope in help from my hubby - all work was overseen by our border collie, of course!
In March, my membership group will be learning how to make the humpback whale. They all know me well enough to expect a little something special so I’ve introduced movement as an option for the adventurous makers. I’ve always been fascinated by movement and automation so we’ve been experimenting. It’s not right yet, we’re still at the early stage with more prototypes in the making and lots of learning - best way to progress!

The humpback whale has been an unexpected favourite to needle felt and I have loved learning about this majestic guardian of the sea. The finished whale sculptures from the makers in my membership have been amazing!
I’m so proud of them all - each on different needle felting journeys, learning new techniques, improving their skills whilst being supported by myself and other makers around the world. I pinch myself everyday having the most wonderful group of people to work with each month on a different project.
