Getting started

Providing your birth date

To sign up for TikTok, you must provide your date of birth. If you choose to create your account using another platform, you will also be asked to provide your birth date to us directly. From restricting access to certain features to tailoring the ads people can see, ensuring we have accurate information helps ensure community members have the correct age-appropriate experience.

Your privacy

When you use TikTok, we process your information to support your use and functionality of the platform. We also use such information to keep you and others safe. You can read our Privacy Policy to understand what information we collect about you and how we use and look after it. We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and you can learn more about our privacy practices and your choices here.

Community Guidelines

Offering a safe and supportive environment is our top priority. We believe that feeling safe is essential to helping people feel comfortable with expressing themselves openly and creatively. We remove content, including video, audio, livestream, images, comments and text that violate our Community Guidelines, and accounts involved in severe or repeated violations. Under certain circumstances, we will go one step further and report the accounts to relevant legal authorities to keep our community safe. Our Community Guidelines apply to everyone, and to everything shared on TikTok.
