Personalizing your TikTok profile

One small last step before you start creating videos is to personalize your profile and figure out your persona.
Profile
When it comes to your TikTok profile, consider choosing a good profile image or video and providing a clear bio that describes yourself. As the old adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. So consider a profile picture or video that conveys what you would like to communicate to the TikTok community.
For your bio, best practices include writing something that lets the community know what your account is about. Think about making it descriptive and communicating everything you want others to know about you as a creator.
Keep in mind that even with a private account, your profile information — including profile photo, username, and bio — will be visible to all users. So while you may choose not to share things like your city or other personal identifiers, there are plenty of other ways to express yourself in your profile.
Persona
A big part of finding success on TikTok is establishing your identity or persona. Perhaps it involves demonstrating a unique talent or skill.
Maybe it’s educating audiences with information you have special knowledge about. Think about writing a mission statement to help narrow down the type of videos you want to make.
To help identify your persona, it can also be helpful to ask yourself questions like:
- What skill or passion can you share with others?
- What impact do you want to make?
- What is the message you’d like to share?
- Who are your favorite TikTok creators and why?
Once you’ve answered those questions, you’ll have an idea of the type of account you’d like to run.
With those covered, you’ve learned how to get started and optimize your profile for TikTok.
