1957 Voigtländer Vitomatic l. Voigtländer is a storied camera camera and optics company and possibly the longest continuously operating brand name in the business, having been founded in 1756 and still in operation in the present day. Founded by Johann Christoph Voigtländer as a mathematical and optical instruments company in Austria, the company rose to prominence as the leading producer of these instruments in the German empire, owning several patents and recieving a royal decree. Peter Voigtländer, the grandson of Johann moved to company more into optics and, with the help of renowned Mathematics professor Josef Petzval, invented the "Petzval Objective Lens" then the world's fastest lens at f3.6. The company went on to produce the first all-metal Daguerrotype camera in 1840 and achieved many other industry firsts in the proceeding 125 or so years, including the first zoom lens for 35mm photography and the first 35mm camera with built in flash. Their most desirable camera to contemporary collectors is their Bessa line, and the Bessa has its own storied past, being produced from 1929 - 2014 in various formats, primarily a Medium Format Folder with dozens of iterations. Voigtländer is still producing high-quality lenses for the photographic industry, though the brand is now owned by Japanese Manufacturer Cosina. The Vitomatic line was a series of compact 35mm cameras that added match-needle metering that allowed manual or semi automatic exposure to the Vito line. The Vitomatic l is a lovely camera aesthetically with fantastic build quality and the renowned Color Skopar f2.8 lens. Mine is in like-new condition and works as it should, even the Selenium cell seems to work. #vintagecamera #vintagecameras #voigtlander #cameracollector #filmcamera #analogcamera #analogphotography #analog #35mmcamera #35mm #filmphotography #filmphotographer #filmisbetter #filmisnotdead #filmisalive #vintage #classiccamerarevival #oldcamera #collection #collector #vintagevibes #analogue
