🇯🇵 Things to do in Kyoto Japan: 1. Kiyomizu-dera Temple: best time to visit is early in the morning before the crowds 2. Kazariya teahouse: 1000 year old business serving tea and sweet rice dumplings by a beautiful shrine 3. Otagi Nenbutsu-Ji Temple: temple of 1000 faces 4. Explore Higashiyama: explore at sunrise or in the evenings to escape the crowds in this historic suburb 5. Nara Park day trip: make your way up the top of Nara Park Wakakusayama Hill for incredible sunset view and friendly deer. 6. Kinkaku-ji Temple: one of a kind golden pavilion 7. Fushimi Inari Tori Gates: iconic Kyoto Tori gate walk, head further along the walk to get segments to yourself, don’t forget to try the street food in the way out, our favourite the custard filled Taiyaki. 8. Nishiki market: Kyotos market for incredible street food, don’t miss the strawberry mochi 9. Explore Arashiyama: beautiful riverside district stunning in autumn & cherry blossom seasons, packed with street food, temples & cafes. Grab a matcha latte from %Arabica Cafe and enjoy it by the riverside. 10. Arashiyama Kimono walk: a unique experience day or night showing traditional kimono designs right by the train station. 11. Rent a bike: enjoy a ride along the Kamo river, grab some snacks from Family Mart for a riverside picnic. We rented our bikes from The Good Day Velo . Kyoto is flat and so easy to get around by bike. 12. Daigo-ji Temple: one of our favourite temples to explore the incredible gardens, make sure to visit the immaculate Sambo-in Zen Garden 13. Hatoya Ryoyousha: enjoy a matcha latte or matcha pudding by the train tracks near Arashiyama for a unique suburban Kyoto experience 14. Breakfast picnic at Wife & Husband Cafe: grab a picnic set from this vintage themed cafe and walk to the riverside for a coffee in the morning sun 15. The BEST way to experience Arashiyama in Kyoto is by far the Sagano Romantic Train + Hozugawa River Boat Ride 🚂🛶🌊  To really maxmize your time in Arashiyama, here’s my suggested itinerary: • 7 AM - Arrive at Arashiyama and explore the bamboo forest • 8:30 AM - Breakfast/snacks (most shops don’t open until 9/10AM though) • 10 AM - Sagano Romantic Train Ride (book ahead of time as tickets sell out quickly) • 11 AM/12 PM - Hozugawa River Boat Ride (we originally booked the 12 PM, but got there early and they let us switch to 11 AM) • 2 PM - Lunch in Arashiyama I highly suggest booking all your tickets in advance with @Klook Travel for an easy and smooth travel experience.
