Did you know that you should wait 6 months before varnishing your oil paintings? 🤔 It's not just some arbitrary rule, but a crucial step to ensure your artwork looks its best & lasts for years to come. 🎨 BTW - yes, varnishes like Gamvar can be used earlier in the curing process but the painting still has to be FULLY touch dry! Not just non-smudgeable - a difficult distinction to judge. Many folks use Gamvar too early. I get a LOT of questions about this from beginners to seasoned pros so wanted to share a slightly longer vid on my YouTube. (Linkinbio) Artists, art restorers, scientists, whoever plz comment & share any tips, experiences, or advice you have for oil painters about this & any creative ways you’ve tackled this. (I know artists who return to their painting after delivery to varnish later). So, be sure to like, comment and share with your fellow artists so we can all learn from each other’s experience! 🙌 #oilpaintingtips #oilpainting #varnishingoilpainting #paintingtutorial #arttips #arttutorials #dryingoilpaint #oilpaintingforbeginners #artvideos #tiktokart #artcommunity #creativeprocess #artlife #paintingtechniques #arteducation #dorisroseart #dorisrose
