Replying to @Ryan Looking at the population map of #Indiana! Indiana is the 17th most populous state, with a little over 6,800,000 residents (more than 90 countries). Its common knowledge that #Indianapolis is the state’s largest city (and capital), with #Indy’s Metropolitan Statistical Area (#MSA) being home to ~31% of the state’s population. However, its less well-known that Indiana has plenty more cities than that, such as #FortWayne, #SouthBend, #Elkhart, #Evansville, #Lafayette, #TerreHaute, and #Bloomington, home to #IU. Indiana also includes parts of 3 out-of-state MSA’s, namely #Cincinnati (#Lawrenceburg, #Bright, etc), #Louisville (#NewAlbany, #Jeffersonville, #Clarksville, etc), and #Chicago, with ‘#NorthwestIndiana’ (#Gary, #Whiting, #MichiganCity, etc) being home to and another 12% of the state. The state’s flat terrain is very suitable for both agricultural and urban development, with few natural barriers getting in the way of settlement. Indianapolis is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and as it grows, it grows outward, making Indianapolis’ MSA include more and more counties every census.
