Stick to this blueprint and stop stressing about eating healthy: 4-5 vegetables: honestly you can never have too many. Find ones you like and know you’ll eat consistently so it doesn’t go to waste! Try to work in a few different colored veggies to get a variety of nutrients. 3-4 fruits: get a variety: berries, apples, tropical fruit—it’s nature’s candy! Have 1-2 servings per day. 3-4 animal or plant proteins: animal protein has the best amino acid profile, but if you’re a vegetarian or vegan there are still options for you! Try to go for some leaner protein sources (ground turkey, chicken breast) and then you can get a couple with higher fat (steak, chicken thighs). Protein should be the main event of every meal so try to get 30g per meal. 2-3 Nutrient dense snacks: yogurt, hummus, trail mix, jerky, protein bars for when you’re on the go 2-3 Carbohydrates: carbs are carbs babe, so grab what you like (if you’re not allergic to gluten, bread and pasta are fine 🤯) and have a serving with each meal. Treats: completely restricting yourself from having any of the fun foods you love will often times result in “falling off the wagon”. I usually will pick one or two treats that don’t come in a huge bag or box so I don’t mindlessly eat 10 servings. MY FAVORITE SALAD EVER ! 🫶🏻 this recipe was based off a basic recipe i got from @giadadelaurentiis but i added my own twist! SO good! 👌🏻 Heat oven to 425. Chop 3 heads broccoli into very small pieces. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Add 20oz shredded Brussel sprouts to sheet. Drizzle with 2 tbsp olive oil and 1 tsp salt, toss, and bake for 20 minutes, tossing half way through. Let cool. While baking, chop 8 pitted medjool dates and 1 cup salted almonds into small pieces. Set aside. Cook 2lb raw, peeled, tail off shrimp by heating a pan over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp butter and 1 tsp Calabrian chili paste. Add shrimp and a pinch of salt. Cook two minutes per side and turn off heat. Set aside. Make dressing by whisking together 1/2 cup olive oil, 2 tsp Calabrian chili paste, 2 tsp lemon zest, juice of 1 lemon, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tsp salt. Set aside. Assemble salad by putting roasted veggies in bowl, then add shrimp, dates, almonds, and grate fresh pecorino Romano on top. Drizzle dressing evenly over salads. 🥦 Foods Better Eaten Raw 👉 Make no mistake, I am still cooking and enjoying all of these on a normal basis, BUT it’s helpful to know when I eat these raw what extra benefits I might get from these foods. 🥘 Keep in mind with any raw veggies, some people will have a harder time digesting them vs cooked, so it does come down to your body and your microbiome in terms of how well you can handle non-cooked veggies. 🥦 I tend to think cooked broccoli tastes much better, but when broccoli is raw the cancer fighting compound myrainase is stable. Heat can degrade it. 🧄 When you heat up garlic, some of the allicin can be destroyed which is the main benefical compound found in garlic. Eating this raw keeps the allicin fully intact! 🧅 Similair to garlic, cooking onions degrades some of the sulpher compounds naturally present in uncooked onions. 🫑 Red peppers are quite high in Vitamin C, but this can get lowered when you apply heat, so eating these as a snack raw will give you the highest amount of Vitamin C. #veggies #rawfood #healthyeating #healthyfood
