This is one of my most requested videos to date- Nattō. It’s a Japanese snack made out of fermented soybeans! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my love for spicy soy bean paste, so saying that I was excited to try this is an understatement! I was told that you have to push the plastic through with a chopstick to get the real experience! The pack I got came with spicy mustard and a sweet soy sauce! You are in the sauces and then mix it together with the soy beans. The soybeans are super soft and all of the flavors are together to me were really enjoyable! I had mine with nori and it was a really tasty snack. The texture does get a little bit gooey when you mix it all together but it is still very enjoyable if you like soybeans 😍 #natto #japanesesnacks

I’ve had a few of my friends tell me they are interested in trying natto, but they don’t know how to eat it or what to buy. So here’s a little beginners guide for you! When I was a kid, I was a picky eater Ava would not eat beans of any kind, least of all fermented ones. So I did not actually start eating natto until a college roommate from Japan introduced me to it. But now I love it! It’s super convenient because you can keep it in the freezer and just let it defrost in the fridge the day before you want to eat it. And you can eat it cold straight from the fridge! A lot of natto comes with tare (liquid seasoning) and mustard, which you mix into the beans. I’m just… not a fan of Japanese mustard 🤷🏻‍♀️ Don’t come for me. So for this video I am eating a natto that came with extra dashi seasoning and no mustard. But you should definitely try all the flavors too see what you like. As for eating it, you can really eat it however you want. A lot of people pour it over rice. You could also roll it into sushi rolls. I’ve also stuck it in age and dried it.
