This coffee tasting from Blue Bottle Studio was… insane. Blue Bottle Studio just opened their first 10-course coffee tasting outside of Japan, and it is a coffee lover’s dream. In my opinion, a coffee tasting like this is incredibly rare and almost impossible to come by outside the limited craft experiences possibly found in Japan. If I could sum up the experience in a word it would be, “zen.” The entire experience felt like a coffee meditation. The ambiance was soft and intimate with smooth jazz playing on a record player, and each coffee was prepared with an immense attention to detail. One coffee was paired perfectly with a delicate dessert, and another even had its own music pairing. In the end, it was truly a one of a kind experience that opened my eyes to the wide spectrum of flavor you can taste in coffee, so I was grateful to be able to experience it given its limited availability. I got the sense that this was a bit of passion project for the Blue Bottle founder. Although there aren’t plans for a permanent installation, he hopes to share this unique tasting experience with as many people as possible with future pop-ups.
