High lipase milk with a baby who refuses the taste of it and the bottle. This is a PSA to all my pumping / breastfeeding mamas… test a bag of milk after its frozen for high lipase before building your stash. If it tastes sour, metallicy, soapy chances are you have high lipase. It doesn’t mean that your milk is bad, It just has an altered taste and your baby may not take it. If you find that you have high lipase milk, just make sure you freeze your milk as soon as you finish pumping so the lipase doesn’t have time to activate and tarnish the taste of your milkies! People have suggested scolding before freezing, but i personally don’t trust myself to do it correctly and not kill off all the nutrients. I did send my milk to be freeze dried to see if it helps!
