Helping activity tracker app Sweatcoin drive awareness and downloads with a new audience using Spark Ads

The Objective

Sweatcoin is a step counter and activity tracker app that converts your steps into currency you can spend on gadgets, sports and fitness kit, services and experiences. In partnership with the agency Kurve, Sweatcoin came to TikTok for an engaging campaign focused on driving app downloads and awareness across the UK and US. 

The Solution

Sweatcoin partnered with micro-creatos across TikTok to create 100% native-feel ads for their campaign. Fun, joyful, and seriously engaging, Kurve and Sweatcoin boosted these creator videos by setting up these videos as Spark Ads on TikTok Ads Manager, alongside choosing an app install objective.


Using Spark Ads to boost this native content allowed Sweatcoin to utilise user-generated content to drive engagement, while also driving app downloads on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at the lowest cost-per-install possible in the UK and the US before expanding globally. 


The creative and optimisation strategies provided by TikTok Ads Manager then gave Sweatcoin greater visibility in target expansion markets, allowing them to confidently reach new audiences through TikTok. 


The Results

The Sweatcoin campaign performed perfectly. Across every market the campaign ran in, costs per install dropped an incredible 53%, while their click to conversion rate was boosted by 26% (January vs. June, 2022*). Most importantly, the number of downloads across iOS and Android totalled more than half a million, securing the brand an incredible amount of new users in their target markets. And in terms of reach, the campaign made it to 31 million people around the world. 


A representative from Kurve said: "The campaigns with Sweatcoin outperformed any estimates we'd provided the client. Once we had figured out user generated content and the correct hooks we saw reductions in CPI in all markets, in some cases that reduction was around 70%. Compared to other channels TikTok consistently drove a CPI 8% lower than large social media advertisers."
