We just made some EMDR HERStory! It was an absolute pleasure co-training with Jessica Crunkleton and Stephanie Johnson in Detroit this week. Jessica and I are on our way to becoming EMDR basic trainers😉, and I couldn't be more excited. The amount of knowledge, lived experiences, and clinical expertise in the room was truly remarkable.
The participants were in for a treat with this training. It was filled with culture, authenticity, creativity, and most importantly, fun! It was an experience like no other, and I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to support and collaborate with these amazing ladies.
This week will definitely go down in the books as a memorable, fulfilling, affirming, and confirming experience. We did that, and we are ready for next!
Wrapping up the weekend with a virtual training with the Tabb Team.

What’s your favorite mental health T-Shirt
Wearing a mental health T-shirt can be incredibly empowering. It has the ability to spark conversations, break stigmas, and create a safe space for open dialogue. By simply wearing a T-shirt, we can make a difference in someone's life and contribute to a more compassionate and understanding society.
Or you can forget what shirt you’re wearing and wonder why this random man is looking you up and down🤣😂.

We all have something thst helps us feel better but we dont always know why.
In my self care workbook I talk about using our senses as a tool to care for ourselves.
Arranging flowers is a self care practice for me and here’s the breakdown for why how and why it’s stabilizing.
1. Aesthetically pleasing: Fresh flowers are visually appealing and can instantly brighten up any space. The vibrant colors and beautiful shapes of flowers can create a positive and uplifting atmosphere, which can improve your mood. The sight of fresh flowers can evoke feelings of joy, happiness, and tranquility, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.
2. Natural fragrance: Many flowers have a pleasant and soothing scent that can have a direct impact on your mood. The aroma of fresh flowers can stimulate the senses and trigger positive emotions. Certain scents, such as lavender or jasmine, are known for their calming properties and can help reduce feelings of tension and promote relaxation.
3. Connection with nature: Being surrounded by fresh flowers can create a sense of connection with nature, even if you are indoors. Studies have shown that exposure to nature, even in small doses, can have a significant impact on mental well-being. Flowers represent growth, beauty, and renewal, which can inspire feelings of optimism and rejuvenation. This connection with nature can help improve your mood and overall sense of well-being.
4. Practicing mindfulness: When you arrange flowers, you need to be fully present and engaged in the task at hand. This helps you shift your attention away from worries about the past or future, allowing you to focus on the present moment. By immersing yourself in the process of arranging flowers, you can cultivate mindfulness and develop a greater sense of awareness.
5. An expression of self love: Arranging flowers involves touching, smelling, and visually appreciating the beauty of the blooms. Engaging your senses in this way can help you become more attuned to the present moment and enhance your overall sensory experience. It allows you to fully immerse yourself in the activity, promoting a sense of self-love by indulging in something that brings you joy. #selfcare

Tell me you’re an EMDR therapist without telling me you’re an EMDR therapist challenge accepted.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to ground and stabilize your clients the eye roll is where it’s at!
It’s one of my favorite tools to help my clients get centered and grounded in session. Especially after being activated!!! To implement the eye roll technique simply have your client take deep diaphragm belly breaths in and out while following your hands up and down. Eyes go up on the inhale and eyes go down on the exhale. You could also enhance this grounding exercise by implementing a subjective unit of disturbance scale (SUD) to check in and measure distress before and after exercise.
Thanks for the challenge @aroundthewaycounseling I would like to challenge a few of my favorite groundbreaking consultantants and Therafriends .
Tell me how you’re an EMDR therapist without telling me you’re an MDR therapist be sure to tag a another EMDR therapist in your post and tag me too.😉
