One of the great things we offer here at LIS is the opportunity to work with Policy Clients. This allows students to work with real companies and gain real-world experience by creating work for them. Blaise, in her group of four, worked with x&why, a sustainable co-working space. They came to our students with problems they wanted to help tackle. Then our students got to work on how best to approach this project.

Our campus might not be straight from a Wes Anderson film, but we think it's still pretty cool. Right off Brick Lane in east London, our campus is home to a range of teaching, learning, and communal spaces and has been designed to facilitate collaboration and learning.
The design process of our campus has been exciting. And it's something that will continue into our first years. The building itself is deliberately adaptable — we want to work with students to create an environment that works for them.
When choosing materials, we consider several factors pertinent to sustainability and the circular economy. These include whether the material can be recycled or reshaped and a material's overall life cycle.

Their task: To help the Refugee Council manage their current and prospective funding into digital tools. These tools help youth asylum seekers seek refuge in the UK while benefiting their welfare and inclusion into society.

Each year we broker paid internships for our students. In their first year our founding cohort completed internships with organisations ranging from innocent Drinks to B Lab. We broker these internships on behalf of our students because we think that (a) it's important for students to gain more insight into what they may or may not want to do, before graduation; (b) it'll enhance their employability (who doesn't want a graduate with substantial experience?); and (c) our students genuinely have something to offer to organisations.
The learning that our students do is directly applicable to the world outside of higher education. In essence, these internships are explicitly designed to produce shared value. Take a look at this video to see how it all went last year!
