SAFFRON BASTANI, inspired by #womanlifefreedom ✊🏼 🇮🇷 🇦🇫
In celebration of International Women’s Month & Nowruz (Persian New Year), we teamed up with Tahmina, a WOC- owned saffron and tea company to create an iteration of this Persian classic.
Tahmina Afghan saffron - infused ice cream swirled with clotted cream ice cream and dotted with rose-candied pistachios.
Saffron is the world's most expensive spice, and Afghan saffron has been rated the best saffron in the world by the International Taste and Quality Institute for many years. Yet very few saffron farmers and Afghans in the industry have access to international markets, so Tahmina is helping to build that bridge to not only connect the supply and demand, but also contribute to the creation of a brand and reputation for Afghan saffron. Tahmina employs 80% women in their saffron production, and 10% of their revenue goes to various social projects in Afghanistan benefiting women.
A portion of the proceeds for this flavor will be donated to Afghan Hands & the Iranian Diaspora Collective.

BROWN BREAD & BUTTER 🍞 🧈
Aside from the potato 🥔 , there is nothing more emblematic or quintessential to Irish cuisine as Brown Bread. In Ireland, it’s as common as a pint of Guinness. It’s served at every meal, found in every bakery, and probably at any given time in an Irish home kitchen.
While in Ireland, our favorite way to eat it was with a thick smear of butter and jam, or with Dubliner cheese and ham. But here at home, we found a new way to enjoy it— in ice cream 🍨.
We took brown bread ice cream, swirled it with salted butter ice cream, and then studded the combination with homemade crunchy brown bread crumbs throughout.
The result captures our favorite thing about Ireland 🇮🇪: the legendary brown bread. And today is the perfect day to come in and try it 🍀!

ICE CREAM UNCLE’s PINK FLAVOR 🔔
It’s our version of “Attap Chee” ice cream, a favorite old school ice cream flavor that holds a special place in the childhood memories of many Singaporeans.
“Attap Chee” is immediately recognizable with its delicate pink hue (rumored to be rose 🌹 flavored) and pieces of toddy palm seed throughout. Toddy palm seeds, extracted from the fruit of toddy palm trees, have a jelly-like texture and a strikingly sweet taste reminiscent of pure sugar cane.
The nostalgic treat could only be found from the roving ice cream man who travels on a motorbike or tricycle equipped with a freezer cart, endearingly called “ice cream uncle” or “ice cream grandpa”, depending on his age. To catch ice cream uncle, Singaporean children had to remain vigilant, ready to run to the street with cash in hand at the sound of his bell.
This cherished delicacy, once widely available, is slowly disappearing from the culinary landscape in Singapore, leaving only fond recollections 🥲.
